COUNTRY UPDATE

Dear all,

The Gabonese Shippers’ Council (CGC) has introduced a temporary procedure for shipments to Gabon, effective immediately. Please adhere to the following steps to ensure compliance:

📄 BIETC Number Acquisition

1. Obtain a BIETC Number:

Before the vessel's departure, acquire a BIETC (Bordereau d’Identification Électronique de Traçabilité des Cargaisons) number from the CGC.

2. Communicate to Carrier:

Ensure the BIETC number is communicated to the carrier prior to the vessel's departure.

✅ Shipper's Responsibility

Validate BIETC:

The shipper must validate the BIETC within the regulatory deadlines.

📦 Carrier's Responsibility

Include BIETC on Bill of Lading:

The carrier must include the valid BIETC number on the final Bill of Lading, based on the information provided by the shipper.

🔍 Pre-Arrival Verification

Submit Details to CGC:

All shipment details must be sent to the CGC for verification before the vessel arrives in Gabon.

⚠️ Compliance Notice

Strict compliance with this procedure is required. Failure to adhere may result in delays, fines, or cargo being held upon arrival.
