The Transformation of Luanda Terminal

The Luanda Multipurpose Port Terminal in Angola is set for a major upgrade, thanks to a 20-year concession agreement signed by AD Ports Group. With an investment of USD 251 million, the terminal will be transformed into a container and Ro-Ro terminal, boosting its handling volumes significantly. The redevelopment, expected to be completed by Q3 2026, marks a significant step in Angola's mission to modernize infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.

The Gauge Rail Corridors Project: A Beacon of Hope for Landlocked East African Countries

The Gauge Rail Corridors Project, part of the East African Railway Master Plan, aims to improve sea access for landlocked East African countries. The project will upgrade existing railways and construct new ones, enhancing cargo transport efficiency between major ports and the interior. A significant 2190km line will link several countries, following a historic route. The project also plans to extend the railway network to South Sudan, Ethiopia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, promising new trade opportunities and economic growth.

Green Initiatives in the Maritime Sector

The maritime sector, crucial for global trade, faces challenges in decarbonisation. The International Maritime Organization aims to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Decarbonisation strategies include energy efficiency and renewable fuels, with biofuels in the short term and green hydrogen-based fuels in the long term. The shipping company CMA CGM has announced the launch of a €200 million fund, intended to promote the implementation of energy transition projects carried out by companies in the sector. While e.g. Côte d'Ivoire Terminal exemplifies energy efficiency in port buildings, achieving EDGE-Advanced Certification for its eco-design and energy-saving measures, and commits to reducing environmental impact through eco-responsibility programs.

Four brand new park gantries for the port of Cotonou

Benin Terminal, has upgraded the Port of Cotonou's infrastructure with four new park gantries. This 10 million euro investment is part of a larger program to enhance operational efficiency and transform Benin Terminal into a regional logistics hub. By 2026, the terminal will have 16 park gantries. General Director Fabrice TURE is committed to the port's modernization and development.
