Cameroon - Douala Port Powers Up: More Cranes, Bigger Capacity, Stronger Trade Future

The Port Authority of Douala (PAD) is modernizing its container terminal to strengthen Cameroon's regional trade position, signing financing agreements with French firm NEGRI on January 17, 2025. The project includes expanding quay space, adding a RORO station, and increasing crane capacity, aiming to handle one million containers by 2030. These upgrades will boost trade efficiency, create jobs, and reinforce Douala’s role as a key Gulf of Guinea port.

Congo - Bridging Borders: Congo's $700M Road-Rail Link to Boost Trade and Growth Moves Forward

The Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo are advancing plans to build a road-rail bridge linking Brazzaville and Kinshasa to enhance trade and regional integration. Estimated at $700 million, the project will begin bidding in June 2025, with construction expected to start by November. If completed, the bridge will boost cross-border commerce and economic cooperation in Central Africa.

Ivory Coast - Port of Abidjan Rises as a Regional Hub with Record Growth and Global Partnerships

In 2024, the Port of Abidjan nearly doubled its container volume, handling 1.6 million TEUs and driving a 15% increase in total traffic. The expansion was fueled by the "Côte d’Ivoire Terminal," managed by AGL, allowing the port to accommodate larger vessels.
